Breaking Down Round 1 of the English Championships Circuit 2024/25 Results: Who Came out on Top?

The English Championship kicked off yesterday with Round 1, hosted by Pedmore Subbuteo & Table Football Club at the Quarry Bank Social Club in Brierley Hill, West Midlands.

32 players competed in this first English Championship round of the season, where it was nice to see a number of players returning to the Sport after a long absence with Paul Sutton, Michael Mayes & Damian Mayes in attendance.

Main Event Winner – Christian Short, beating Kevin Cordell 3 v 0 in the Final.

Plate Event Winner – Malcolm Jamieson, beating Robert Paterson 2 v 0 in the final.

In the junior category where there was no standalone event, it was England international Ruby Matthews who reached the Semi Final of the Main Championship Event narrowly losing to Kevin Cordell by a 2-1 score line, a brilliant run in the event.

Also in the junior category Jamie Warren took the Runner up spot with some excellent results in his games, another England international who is following on from some superb World Cup performances.

The next round of the series will be held by Leicester Foxes in the East Midlands on the 19th January 2025
