The enthusiastic flickers flew to Spain for a busman's holiday of sorts. Subbuteo business as usual by day, release by night.
Bob Varney bought himself a ticket to the knock out phase of the veteran competition with two wins in the group stage, but unfortunately went down narrowly to John Field. Likewise, Chris Bedford took a ride on the open top deck, but was beaten by Angel Valverde. Notably, though, Valverde went the distance, meeting Carlos Flores in the final. Every traveller scored goals! Chris Thomas, Richard Badger and Justin Scott were all free-scoring, hitting double figures. Unfortunately, only Chris Thomas managed to come away with a positive goal difference. Bob Varney avoided a goal deficit, scoring and conceding six in four games. But every travelling player netted.
