Rudi Peterschinigg is a player who has only recently emerged on the Subbuteo scene in England, but has travelled to many tournaments all over Europe. The passionate Italian restauranteur has been playing since 1983 and if you ever play him, just make sure you don't beat him in his restaurant because you might end up on the menu!
1. When did you first start playing?
Around summer 1983/84 first time I've flicked fell in love with the game
2. Which was your first ever big tournament?
Birmingham last February
3. Which is the best tournament you have ever attended?
Not been in many so far, Amsterdam last April i guess as it was a Major, but to be honest i was let down by the quality of the pitches after i drove all the way there and back, not that better pitches would have made a big difference in my performance there though :)
4. What was the best goal you have ever scored?
Back in the days when I played Andrea Di Vincenzo for the first and only time, got hammered 6-1 (not bad) but my goal by his own words was the best of the entire match almost from the bottom line about a couple of inches from the corner flag next to the side line, straight under the bar on the far post up to now i still don't know how i did it especially with Argentina l/w bases, guess who scored?...Yep him number 10!!!
5. Who would you describe as being the toughest player you have faced in England?
Oh well quite few, in order of appearance in front of me Steve George (always finds a way to beat me), Paul Andreas, Paulo Gouveia, Kevin Dyson, Martin Hodds, Mike Parnaby all of them are a different category to mine but David Russell man,so fast, met the guy in Birmingham he showed up,shook my hand, played, kicked me 7-2, and was gone like the wind, all in a blink of an eye. These people should be banned for playing so fast lol!!!
6. Who would you describe as being the toughest player you have faced in the World?
Don't know if because i was tired or not by the amount of hours i drove to Amsterdam but Robert Thoen (lost 9-2) and Manfred Pawlica (lost 7-1) them two for sure, couldn't wait for both games to end as quickly as possible, also Geoffrey Marain is worth to be mentioned.
7. What has been the best match you have ever played in?
don't know if it was the best but definitely one of the most entertaining ones vs Colin Tarry at the Harrow Tournament, 4-3 on Golden Goal, i was 3-0 up (3 goals in matter of 5 minutes or so)in the first half and "Taz" managed to pull back 3-3 in the second half, missed few chances to go up 4-3 before i found the winner in the extra time. Also the 1-1 vs Mike Parnaby in Birmingham was a very good match.
8. What has been your best moment or achievement in the game?
Well the award must go to my easiest and only win (3-0) vs Justin Finch in Birmingham, well he never really showed up at the table as he was afraid of me (to be fair he had a bad back pain but i like more the other reason), and now he has injured himself once again on purpose as he's afraid to meet me in Leicester, not easy task to achieve that, to scare the ESA Chairman LOL!!!
9. What has been the funniest moment you have seen on a trip away to a tournament?
Birmingham, Kasper Bennett he was polishing his players and i was trying them at one point he mumbled something, only later on two hours after he came to me saying "Sorry if i was nasty to you when i told you to leave my players alone but i was tense for the match", i never ever realized he told me that, i mean he could have stubbed me with his goalkeeper rod while i totally ignored his warning and I wouldn't ever understand why lol!!! You make a trip with Gerald Brightwell to Amsterdam and you see what the word "funny" means, the guy is crazy man :)
10. Which football team do you support?
Giulianova my home town club in italy (hence why i mostly wear the yellow and red striped top), Inter Milan in serie A and Liverpool in England.
11. What is your favourite food?
Fish from my home town in any way is done even while still swimming.
12. Do you have any other hobbies?
Football, tennis and i like to play golf here and there but normally is the golf that plays with me.
13. What is your favourite holiday destination?
Never been but i think i'd love to go to Florida for the local fauna :), otherwise back home.
14. What is the best movie you have ever seen?
La Vita e' Bella, Life is Beautiful, an Italian masterpeace, also Titanic is brilliant.
15. What is your favourite TV series?
Lost, The wire and The Walking Dead
16. What is your favourite music?
I like anything to be honest but my favorites are Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Genesis, Dire Straits but none of these I'm sure can actually match Dippa's Renegade Army, if he gets me free tickets I'll even go to their gigs one day :)
17. Which person do you have most respect for in life?
My family in general and who ever respects me to be honest.
